REWARDS AND AWARDS
COLOURS
Our 'Colours' awards is the most long established of our rewards ceremonies.
Our Colours system offers students the opportunity to earn points throughout the year. These points are awarded to children for many reasons, including: those who have excelled and shown great commitment academically, made significant progress over a period of time, have developed new skills in a particular area, have volunteered to support causes in the local community, and represented the Academy in a particular sport. Below are some more examples of the activities that will result is receiving Colours points:. Each are linked to our four curriculum areas of intent.
As students continue to earn points during their time at WRA they will aim to gain:
► School Colours (10 points)
► School Honors (20 points)
► Academy Colours (30 points)
► Academy Honours (30 points)
Students receive their rewards in a special ceremony, to which parents/carers are invited to witness.
All students receive a certificate at each stage of their 'Colours', alongside a lapel badges, specifically designed ties, and a commemorative glass medal. They are also given extra privileges and opportunities throughout the Academy year.
ACADEMIC AWARDS
Our 'Academic Awards' evening celebrates our Year 11 students and recognises their outstanding behaviour and achievements in either a curriculum area or acknowledged their contribution to their School over their five years at WRA.
With 15 awards and only three students nominated in each category, nominees are considered to be the top students within the Academy.
Winners have their names etched onto our Academic Awards display wall and all nominees receive a commemorative trophy.
Scheduled for just before Year 11 begin their final exams, the evening is an opportunity for the students, and their loved ones, to celebrate their time and successes at WRA.
WALKER SHOUTOUTS
Every week at WRA, we have students who deserve to be shouted about, whether they have went above and beyond that week or they have just tried their best and continue to be a valued member of their class/School/the Academy.
Each week, every teacher selects a student that has stood out to them that week, and records their shoutout on their classroom door for all to see.
From all of our winners, our School teams select weekly winners. They are awarded a Weekly Winner certificate and pen. We also give them an extra shoutout by shouting about them on our Academy social media, so be sure to check our feeds every Friday!
RRACC POINTS
Here at Walker Riverside Academy we believe that students should always be rewarded for their achievements. Individual students are awarded with RRACC stamps for demonstrating our Academy Core Values:
RRACC stamps are awarded in all lessons and are recorded in a student’s planner. Each term, the students with the highest number of stamps, with over 92% attendance, will be
rewarded. They will receive a gold, silver or bronze award, each corresponding to a reward trip. (Examples below and are subject to change).
