Walker Riverside Academy is split into 3 Schools:
► Dobson
► Grainger
► Stephenson
Each School has a Head of School and a Lower School Head.
Here at Walker we are very proud of our Schools system and it enables our students to feel as if they are a part of a family. It also provides teachers and pastoral staff the chance to really get to know our students and families and be able to provide the best education and support.
Transition activities with our local feeder primaries take place throughout the year. We also run transition days for all incoming Year 7 students in the penultimate week of the summer term, during which they have a taste of what secondary life will be like. These days also provide the children with the opportunity to meet their new form class, make new friends and get to know the teachers and the layout of the Academy.
Successful transition starts while the children are still in their primary schools. Regular meetings are held between ourselves and our feeder primary schools. The schools work together on various initiatives and transition programmes.
If you require any further information about our transition programme please contact our transition lead Mrs Knox via email at transition@wra.tynecoast.academy
